Davis, CA (October 8, 2026) – OLE Health has opened a new community garden at the Davis Community Clinic, expanding access to fresh food, nutrition education and wellness resources for patients and completing a network of gardens at every OLE comprehensive health center in Yolo County.
Developed through a partnership between OLE Health and Sutter Health, who provided the funding and land for the new garden, the garden at Davis Community Clinic reflects a shared commitment to addressing the factors that influence health beyond medical care and creating more opportunities for patients to lead healthy lives.
“At OLE Health, we believe health happens beyond the exam room,” said Alicia Hardy, CEO of OLE Health. “Access to nutritious food, time outdoors, and strong community connections all contribute to overall health and well-being. The Davis Community Clinic Garden brings those elements together and gives our patients a welcoming place to learn, connect, and grow.”
Sutter Health’s longstanding support of OLE Health has helped expand food and wellness initiatives that connect patients with healthy food, nutrition education and resources that support their health beyond a medical appointment. With the addition of the Davis Garden, every OLE comprehensive health center in Yolo County now includes a garden, and OLE has harvested and shared more than 15,000 pounds of fresh produce with patients since the garden at Hansen Family Health Center began producing food. Since 2021, Sutter Health has invested over $3.5 million in OLE Health’s food and wellness initiatives to support and expand this work.
“Health is shaped by so much more than what happens inside a hospital or clinic,” said Michael Cureton, CEO of Sutter Davis Hospital. “Our longstanding partnership with OLE Health reflects our shared commitment to connecting health, food and community. We’re proud to support this garden and help create a resource that can benefit Davis residents for years to come.”
OLE Health’s gardens are part of a broader food and wellness approach connecting patients to healthy food, nature, and resources that support prevention and well-being. With support from Sutter Health, programs include cooking classes, diabetes education, registered dietitian services, and Produce Rx. In 2025, OLE offered more than 100 cooking classes across its Yolo County sites. Its Healthy Living with Diabetes program combines education with clinical services and group medical visits, with patients participating in three or more education activities seeing an average one-point reduction in A1c, according to de-identified electronic health records.
OLE Health and Sutter Health marked the garden’s opening on October 7 with remarks from Hardy, Cureton, and Yolo County District 4 Supervisor Sheila Allen, followed by a ribbon-cutting with the Davis Chamber of Commerce. Volunteers from Sutter Health and OLE Health then participated in hands-on garden activities, including planting, potting, and a food demonstration and taste test.
