JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:
The Dental Back Office Lead will perform a wide range of duties in the health center, including all duties of a Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant while providing oversight and training. They will be responsible for directing patient flow, maintaining inventory of all dental supplies, and ensuring there is proper coverage of staff throughout the day. |

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/TRAINING

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
One-year certificate from college or technical school with 2 years of clinical experience. |

Previous Dental Assistant or related experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with leadership qualities. Bilingual (English/Spanish) language preferred. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. Computer skills, including how to conduct searches on the Internet and knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Electronic health record system experience required. |

Current CPR certification required.
Dental Assistant must have proof of completion of a board-approved Radiation Safety, California Dental Practice Act, and 8-hour Infection Control course. A Registered Dental Assistant must be licensed in the State of California and have proof of completion of a board-approved Radiation Safety, Coronal Polishing, Pit and Fissure Selant Certificate, California Dental Practice Act, and Infection Control course. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. | Supports patient schedule by demonstrating strong 4-handed dentistry skills and completes duties and responsibilities of an RDA or DA (depending on certifications). |
2. | Responsible for driving and modeling a positive attitude to create teams that will deliver positive patient customer service and staff experience. |
3. | Leads clinical staff in maintaining a smooth patient workflow with the front staff and clinical team to promote timely and exceptional patient experience. |
4. | Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of equipment. Performs and delegates completion of required maintenance per manufactures instructions. |
5. | Ensures equipment repairs are completed in a timely manner and documented thoroughly. |
6. | Maintains dental supplies inventory while adhering to established budget. |
7. | Complete proper storage and handling of supplies. Review and confirm all invoices. |
8. | Supports staff schedules and employee breaks to ensure adequate coverage and optimal clinic flow. |
9. | Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols, spore testing, waterline testing, radiation safety, and required maintenance is maintained. |
10. | Supports team in resolving staff or patient concerns and completes prompt reporting to management. |
11. | Assists supervisor in quality improvement initiative and other projects as assigned. |
12. | Provides instruction, training, and guidance to all back-office staff. |
13. | Attends and participates in required meetings, training, and educational programs. |
14. | Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, OSHA etc. |
15. | Supports department’s goals. |
16. | Performs other duties as assigned. |
