Salary Range:                     $25.19 to $30.79 hourly

JOB SUMMARY: The Dental Assistant works with the dental program team and reports to the Dental Program Administrator and Dental Director.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. Dental Assisting experience preferred
  2. Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  3. Required courses must be completed within one (1) year of employment
    1. A board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act.
    2. A board-approved eight (8) hour course in infection control.
    3. A course in basic life support offered by an instructor approved by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association, or any other course approved by the board as equivalent and that provides the student the opportunity to engage in hands-on simulated clinical scenarios.

KNOWLEDGE OF WORK

1. Perform all duties of a Dental Assistant according to Department of Consumer Affairs, Dental Board of CA and Regulations-Chapter 3, Article 5, Title 16, Division 10, Chapter 3, Article 5, Section 1085.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist dentist with four-handed dentistry as needed.
2. Take necessary x-rays (only after completion of certification).
3. Sterilize instruments and clean operatories.
4. Assist with pediatric patients.
5. Provide preventative dental education to patients as needed.
6. Assist with front office and other duties as needed
